Road

Door to door, standard or low-loader, single trailer to multi-truck convoys.

Maritime

Roll-on/roll-off, container, breakbulk. EU ↔ LATAM, EU ↔ UK, intra-Mediterranean.

Rail

Flat-wagon transport for railway-bound machines (tampers, rail-road excavators). When rail makes sense, we go rail — fewer road permits, less wear.

Intermodal

We combine modes (maritime + road + rail) to find the most efficient route. A single contract, a single contact.

EXW

Ex Works

Buyer takes the machine at the seller's site. All transport and customs on the buyer.

FCA

Free Carrier

Seller delivers to the carrier at the agreed place. Buyer takes over from there.

DAP

Delivered At Place

Seller pays transport to the destination. Buyer handles import customs and duties.

DDP

Delivered Duty Paid

Seller pays everything including duties and import customs. Buyer just receives.

CIP

Carriage and Insurance Paid To

Seller pays transport and insurance to the destination. Buyer handles import.

4Customs clearance & documents

Who provides what — clear and contractual.

By default, the seller provides the export and shipping documentation: commercial invoice, packing list, EUR.1 origin certificate, CE declaration of conformity, EX-A customs declaration, machine manual.

On request, Heavy Buddy produces and coordinates all of the above on behalf of the seller — and bills the service. We also handle the IM-A import declaration on the buyer side, including duty payment when DDP applies.

Either way, both export and import clearance can be fully outsourced to Heavy Buddy with a transparent cut on each step.

5Certified carrier network

We do not subcontract blindly. Every carrier in our network is vetted.

Certification criteria — a carrier must pass all of these to join:

Public profile + ranking. Each carrier has a dedicated profile page on the platform, with fleet description, certifications, machine types they handle and client ratings. Heavy Buddy never hides anything from the client.

Bring your own carrier. You can choose to use a carrier outside the Heavy Buddy network — we just charge a coordination fee and provide no guarantee on outcome, insurance or delays. The choice is yours.

6Escrow payment by phases

100% of the logistics cost is held in escrow. Released to the carrier as the load progresses through key milestones.

The breakdown above is the standard full-route case. The phases adapt to your actual logistics plan — no refurbishment stop means a simpler 30 / 30 / 40 split, intra-EU road only means 50 / 50, etc.

7Heavy Buddy margin

Transparent, no hidden fees.

Heavy Buddy applies a fixed 15% margin on top of the total carrier and customs quotes. This covers:

Clear playbook for the two main scenarios.

Machine damaged on arrival

The buyer signs the delivery note with reserves. Photos are taken immediately. The escrow stays frozen until the case is settled. The carrier's all-risk insurance and RC pro cover the cost of bringing the machine back to its quoted condition. Heavy Buddy mediates the claim end-to-end.

Carrier cancels at the last minute

Heavy Buddy finds a replacement carrier at no additional fee, and credits a service bonus to your account for the delay. We do not pay financial penalties for a third-party cancellation — but we do not leave you stranded either.

Three more answers to common questions before your first quote.

Temporary storage

Between seller's site and final delivery, we can store the machine in a partner yard — daily rate agreed up-front on the quote. Useful in case of customs delay, refurbishment lag, or buyer's site not ready.

Standalone transport (no platform deal)

You do not need to have bought the machine on Heavy Buddy to use our logistics. External brokers and direct B2B sellers can use the service as a standalone offering.

Geographic coverage

EU-27, United Kingdom, Switzerland, Norway, Latin America (Brazil, Mexico, Argentina, Chile, Colombia, Peru and others). Sanctioned countries (Russia, Belarus, Iran, etc.) are evaluated case-by-case.

Pre-departure inspection by the driver

Photos of the machine are taken by the driver at every loading and at every unloading. This is standard, non-optional — it locks the condition at each handover point and protects everyone in case of dispute.
